Sweet coconuts, toffee pudding, and a soft blanket. 4/5 stars.
This beer was in my December box from Oregon Beer Club (use code SAVE20 to get 20% off your first box!).
Simple and straightforward can design, lets you know the important stuff quickly: what you’re drinking and who made it! Pours a deep brown, about the color of a medium roast drip coffee. Chunky tan head, good retention. Smells like German chocolate cake, light on the coconut and heavy on the chocolate. Taste is coconut-forward but quickly slipping into warm toffee pudding with a hint of cocoa, finishing with a lingering sweetness like a dark caramel. Continued swallows result in less roasted malt character and building sweetness, but without becoming cloying. Feel was round and soft, like a fleece blanket, rather than overly heavy or syrupy. While it lacked complexity, I enjoyed this beer as a nice after-dinner treat! It also paired well with the ham and navy bean soup I ate.
